One more week and we will be taking mid term exams. All exam study guides are posted at the top of the PAGES list on the right sidebar.
Major events coming up are the annual Youth Art Month Exhibition at the Portland Museum of Art. This year, the Museum has decided to feature student artwork in the Payson Building 4th floor gallery space. This will be quite an honor and a spectacular space for student work. More info coming soon.
Our 2013 local Art Competition sponsored by the Westbrook Women's Club will be coming up soon and we have some impressive works to send along to this exciting event as well.
Check back for more info.

Pumpkin Festival 2012
This years Pumpkin Festival was another great success! With several last minute volunteers on the bus, 48 WHS students carved all day on Friday October 26th. We carved over 250 pumpkins! Camp Sunshine raised over seventy five thousand dollars this year and WHS had a primary placement in this event.
Be sure to go and check out Mr. Johnson's blog entry on the pumpkins with more photos. CLICK HERE!
I will be adding pumpkin photos that students took during the day so check back soon! I will post a complete collection to the flickr photostream.

Welcome back!
WELCOME BACK!!!!!!
A late but well deserved congratulations goes out to Susan DeRoche for placing 1st in her division for the National Junior Federal Duck Stamp contest for the SECOND YEAR IN A ROW this past spring. I spoke to the state coordinator and Susan's beautiful colored pencil drawing got very close to the top of the competition. Her hard work and perseverance paid off in a spectacular piece and a just reward. We will all be watching to see if Susan will surpass her work again in this years competition.
The art department is looking forward to another great year! Our interactive art exhibition is slated to be held again in the art rooms this year. Please be sure to come in to the studio art rooms and check out our Jr/Sr AP individual work spaces. We love to have visitors.

MECA Visits Westbrook High School AP/Studio Art CLass
Last Thursday Maine College of Art came to speak to our AP/Studio Art class. The college was very impressed with the studio space and the work they saw of our students. On Friday during our teachers work shop Mr. Johnson taught us how to make a video using iMovie. Here is my very first movie! Be easy on the critique!
